Advertising Concepts

Concept testing or creation is a generally overlooked form of advertising. From cars to phones to clothing, concept models promote not only the features of a product, but the design prowess that emerges from the creators. For example, the 2015 concept for the Ferrari F80 is a more outrageous version of what the car actually might be some day. The purpose of this is to showcase the ideas and creativity of the company.

Unlike Ferrari Concept cars, the iPhone may be slightly more accessible to the general consumer. Concepts for new phone models, like the iPhone6 concept. Companies such as Apple use concept models to advertise new features of their upcoming product to excite the consumers who will be purchasing this product. Apple uses concept models more to promote new products "in the making," while Ferrari creates concepts to showcase an overall design idea.

Finally, another industry which utilizes concept testing and concept models is fashion. Runway shows aren't typically used to sell articles of clothing to customers (unless you're Lady Gaga) as much as they're used to display ideas from the designer. Below is a great example of runway fashion and how it isn't exactly... Practical. Brought to you during Paris Fashion week by Alexander McQueen; Spring/Summer 2015.

From Ferraris to phones to fashion, concept testing and concept models are a medium of advertising normally forgotten by consumers, yet promoted greatly by companies.
