Lego Movie Promoting D.C. Characters

There's a lot of buzz about the Lego Movie right now, and rightfully so. It definitely is cinema magic, and I have been a huge fan of legos since I was a kid. Through different generations of legos, the company have adopted utilizing different movies to create different sets in order to reach a larger demographic of kids who are interested in characters from movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter and The Avengers. These sets have also been featured in video game installments such as Lego Marvel and Lego Indiana Jones, which again reaches an even broader audience in the gaming world. Although, these installments have reached many demographics on multiple platforms, there is some confusion I have with Lego's brand loyalty, which is slightly in question after watching the lego movie.

In the past five years Marvel has released a string of movies that all relate to the Avengers franchise. Lego has adopted these into sets and the release of a video game. This seems to be the main superhero franchise they have taken on besides the lego Batman series which belongs to DC. However, in the Lego movie, they strictly mostly DC heroes instead of Marvel. It does help to have movie giant, Warner Brothers to be behind you to produce the movie, but Marvel could have made a movie just as easily. This makes me seriously question where Lego's loyalty truly stands as far as super hero franchises, but it also makes me wonder if it is a wise decision to produce both of these franchises. Fans now have the option to pick either one or combine the two super hero allegiances together. This could just further stretch the imagination for lego users everywhere and only further grow their brand.
