The History of M&M Commercials

The History of M&M Commercials
By Brendan McLaughlin

My favorite M&M Commercial

M&M's Meet Santa
M&M's have had a great deal of commercials over the years. There have been over seventy two national ad campaigns for this product, and they usually focus on a humorous aspect. Most of the time, this is done with the use of their M&M mascots who are actual, life sized, M&M people. For example, M&M's have had commercials featuring these mascots meeting Santa Claus, making a film for commercials playing at movie theaters, and even one's where they become human. In this case Danny Devito played the human M&M.

Another hazardous situation
M&M's have made a huge impact during commercials because they are constantly playing. Within the time of thirty days, their commercials have been aired around 3,324 times. The brand has even had a major part at the Super Bowl, where they have aired during nearly one. One of the most interactive ad campaigns was when the company had customers make their own music for a commercial. It was a very successful campaign, as well.

So while the advertisements for M&M's have changed over the years, the brand has successfully maintained their status as one of the most well known ads in history. The mascots are so iconic that an extremely few amount of people could possibly not know about them. This makes M&M's one of if not the best brand in all of history.
