The Cartoon Wears Prada...

Since, we just talked about gaming advertising a few weeks ago I thought this advertisement was perfect material up for discussion. When we discussed ad-gaming we were mainly seeing brands that were seen in the video games as background pieces, or companies utilizing their own games online.

This is something completely different and actually kind of strange, but in a good way. Thanks to a British magazine, they used a new way to promote two unrelated things... Prada, fashion and Final Fantasy XIII-2, video game characters.

These shockingly real-life looking animations were part of a 12 page spread in the latest issue of the British fashion magazine Arena Homme+. It's tasteful and tame and it does exactly what we discussed in class of blurring the lines of the physical reality with the fantasy of gaming.

Do you think that this advertisement equally promotes both products?
and
Do you think that this could possibly be a new form a advertising, the form of not only putting brands in games, but bringing the games to life and applying them to brands?
