As we all know, the Super Bowl is one of the biggest advertising platforms on television. This year there were a variety of ads ranging from the traditional Budweiser clydesdales, to a humorous M&M ad, and even an awkward Go Daddy.com ad that involved a little bit of PDA. All three of these were effective in supporting each company's Brand Position.
Almost one thing is certain for the past few decades, viewers can count on seeing an ad for the Budweiser clydesdales during the Super Bowl. There ads have ranged from humorous, like this 2003 ad, to more heart felt like this years 'baby clydesdale'. The Budweiser company, with these ads, are proving their sense of tradition.
In addition to their Clydesdale ad, Budweiser also unveiled an ad for their new product, Black Crown . the new lager is promoted as an "elitist" type of beer, by "summing the finest of the nation". The ad portrayed the new Black Crown as a 'hip', more modern type of beverage, in contrast to he original "King of Beers".
Go Daddy.com also took a new approach with their advertising. The domain name website is known for shocking commercials, but usually the shock comes from beautiful woman leaving the viewer wanting more. This year they used model Bar Refaeli in an extremely uncomfortable kissing scene with a nerdy looking actor names Walter. The ad focuses on not only Go Daddy's 'sexy' side (Bar), but also their 'smart' side represented by Walter. The ad might have been the most talked about out off every commercial shown during the big game. This in my mind was advertising genius.
