In a world lacking serious privacy as it is, is this going too far? What happened to intimacy? The whole fun of getting into a relationship/dating are the moments that lead up to being "official." Relationships are meant to be shared between two people, not two people and Facebook. In today's world a simple Google search will tell you everything you want to know about a total stranger. Isn't it sometimes better to just sit back, and enjoy the ride?

This is really strange, in my opinion, and a bit creepy. I also think it's invasive. As you said, relationships are meant to be shared between the people who are in them. It's one thing to choose to share things yourself, be it through photos, status updates, or making your relationship "Facebook official." It's a completely different to have your relationship tracked and observed by Facebook employees. Does the website give users a chance to decide whether they want to permit relationship prediction?
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, this is a very strange concept. I understand that in the world of social media privacy is not very common however in terms of relationships, they should be. I feel as though this would be something that would appeal more towards high school students because it does seem rather childish and immature to me. I have to agree with Marissa's question, it would be interesting to know if this would be something that as a Facebook user you would need to permit prior these predictions.
