Pepsi's Engagement ring and box. |
Pepsi is at it again coming out on top for innovative ideas to make Pepsi new. This time it’s with an engagement ring. Yes, you heard that right. Pepsi has teamed with VaynerMedia, a creative agency, to create a 1.53 carat, lab-grown diamond made with real Pepsi Crystal.
Pepsi Crystal debuted in 1992, but was quickly discontinued in the U.S. and Canada in 1994. Since then, Pepsi has released the drink for short term purchases. This time they decided to incorporate it into a campaign that is sure to make people say “interesting”. Now until March 6th, Pepsi is asking its fan to tweet their proposal ideas and use the hashtags #PepsiProposal and #Contest in a chance to win this one of a kind ring. Pepsi released the idea with a coinciding video that highlights giving the person you love, the thing you love most, Pepsi. Also including its genius slogan, 'A Ring with Taste'.
Now you maybe wondering how it was possible to make a ring out of a drink. Well, this is how. According to Pepsi, they boiled down Pepsi Crystal into it’s basic carbon form. This resulted in it becoming a powder which was added to the process of creating a lab-gown diamond. Pepsi is always trying to find new ways of staying relevant in a world where soda is now being looked down upon for being unhealthy.
Pepsi also released they will be coming out with a coffee-infused soda in Spring of 2020. Coffee with more caffeine? Count me in!
