Cadbury Bunny: An Icon for Easter

Cadbury is a timeless chocolate company that pop up more frequently during the Easter season. From their Cadbury Creme eggs to their crispy Mini eggs. They have been promoting and selling their chocolates since the 1824. The company originated in the United Kingdom and began making their world famous Creme eggs in 1923 but didn't begin mass production until 1971. Their campaign for their products became known for their trademark purple that was implemented in 1920.

The Cadbury company knew that they would have to implement television advertisements into their campaign. Since their chocolates were popular primarily during the Easter months, they chose their mascot to be a bunny. They began their advertisements by creating the bunny as a character...

Then they began the humor by holding "tryouts" to be the new Cadbury bunny. This commercial was the most popular and remembered Cadbury commercial.
The company still uses the same advertisements today to show their consumers that their products have been consistently popular as well as focusing on nostalgia to keep their current customers. They have created new ads to appeal to the younger generations that haven't been exposed to the older ads and who might not understand the comedy within the older ads.

Do you remember the old commercials? Or are you into the newer style of Cadbury? Check out their website to learn more about their journey and how they got to be the most popular chocolate for Easter.

  2. I love the Cadbury commercials. I remember thinking how funny it was to see lions, turtles and other animals in bunny ears when I was a kid. The fun atmosphere of the Cadbury company still shows through since they use the same commercial even today. The new commercials don't have that same feel because many consumers feel a sense of familiarity with the ad that has been running for over 20 years. I do suspect though that they'll have to replace the ad sometime in the relative future, but until then, it's great to enjoy it while it lasts!
